40 West Arts, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, is all about the arts—arts of all kind—and the energy and inspiration of creativity. 40 West Arts is a Colorado Certified Creative Arts District with a dozen galleries (and growing), multiple performing arts venues, more than 20 public art installations, and a variety of restaurants, cafés, diners, and pubs. 40 West Arts also operates a gallery that serves as a creative hub for its 100+ artist members and a gathering place for the community.

Bill Marino, chairman of 40W was honored with the John Madden, Jr.
Leadership Award from the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts
(CBCA) at the Business for the Arts Awards luncheon, hosting over 700
people in March, 2015. This award was presented to Bill Marino for his
influence in the creation and development of the Lakewood–West Colfax
creative corridor and of 40 West Arts. This signature Colorado event
began nearly thirty years ago as a way to salute exemplary arts and
business partnerships across Colorado. This is an incredible
accomplishment for 40 West Arts. Congratulations to Bill Marino and
every volunteer who has supported 40 West along the way. We look forward
to what is on the horizon!

Call For Exhibitors (Artist & Non-Artist)! - 1st Annual MuralFest
This vibrant art experience in 40 West Arts District will feature
juried artists from across the country who will create an outdoor art
gallery of murals--culminating in a one-day celebration of art, music,
food, and creative activities on August 8. The festival will feature many exhibitors who will display/sell their work as well as share their business. If you would like to be considered as an exhibitor at MuralFest, click here to learn more. Deadline for entry is May 30.

This August, the "Art of the Wheel" exhibition will be a month long show planned to celebrate our transportation corridor history and its future. This show will expand upon the interest and range displayed at the 2014 Hubcap Art Show. Deadline for entry is June 19. Learn more.

WE DID IT!! The Artspace Proposal Was Approved by City
April 13, City Council chambers erupted
in applause when the votes were cast. Artspace was approved by a
unanimous vote. Thank you so very much to everyone who supported this
effort. We will certainly share more information about Artspace and the
pre-development process as it unfolds. In the meantime, we can revel in
the fact that Artspace has 39 projects across the country—and that once
they reach a pre-development agreement with a partner, they have ALWAYS
delivered a project. They are 39 for 39—a 100% success rate. Spread the

Best New Public Art - At more than 22 feet high, artist Christopher Weed's monumental "Connected" wins Best New Public Art. Located at 14th & Lamar Roundabout. Best Boundary-Pushing Theater in the Suburbs - The Edge Theatre wins its third award from the Westword in 2015. x
